Health Care Not Handcuffs: Building a new skilled workforce for behavioral health crisis response
Description
Workforce innovation is needed to achieve the goal of 24/7 access to skilled, unarmed crisis response. In this session we discuss our NAMI funded work to develop the foundation of a new professional role and credential: Community Behavioral Health Crisis Responder (CBHCR). Learn about current workforce shortages; values, competencies and skills for crisis response; the steps to develop the CBHCR credential; and related policy barriers and facilitators.
