Babu George Mathew is currently serving as a Director on the NAMI National Board, elected in 2024. During 2024-25 board year, he has served as Co-Chair for the Board Education Workgroup
Babu has been a member of NAMI Colorado from 2015 and for 6 years, has served on the NAMI Colorado Board from 2018, as Vice President in 2019 and President from 2020 - 2024.
As a family Peer, Babu has been in an intimate recovery journey with his loved one for over 15 years. He is a certified Teacher for NAMI Family-to-Family, Program Leader for NAMI Family & Friends and Facilitator for NAMI Family Support Groups.
Since January 2019, he has been serving on the National Advisory Committee of NAMI Faithnet, collaborating with the NAMI leadership and interfaith Community leaders on the intersection of mental health and spirituality. He has also been working with the NAMI Colorado and the NAMI Office of Innovation on the Sharing Hope and Chai & Chat community initiatives.
For his outstanding contribution as a mental health advocate, raising public awareness and reducing stigma, Babu was recognized with the NAMI Cross-Cultural Innovation & Engagement Award at the 2023 NAMICon in Minneapolis.
As a NAMIWalks Colorado Captain from 2018 for team “Asian Americans for Mental Health”, he has been one of the top fundraisers.
He has over 2 decades of experience in Sales & Marketing with Graphic Arts & Printing and Semiconductor Packaging industries in India and the U.S.
