Meet the Speakers

Raymond Braun (He/Him) 

Raymond Braun, a Calm contributor, LGBTQ advocate, and marketing executive, launched YouTube’s first LGBTQ+ marketing initiative at Google. He’s a leading voice for LGBTQ+ issues, serving as a contributing editor for Seventeen magazine, and recognized on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list. In 2023, he set two World Records by completing 7 Olympic Distance triathlons on 7 continents in 7 days, marking his recovery journey from OCD. Collaborating with institutions like the White House Summit and Stanford University, he advocates for social impact, promoting diversity, and raising mental health awareness. 

Daniel H. Gillison Jr.

Daniel H. Gillison Jr. provides strategic leadership to NAMI through his role as Chief Executive Officer with more than 30 years of professional experience. He also currently serves on numerous boards, including the National Institute of Health (NIH)’s Advisory Mental Health Council, the Lululemon Global Wellbeing Advisory Board, the National Health Council Board of Directors, and the Austen Riggs Center Board of Trustees.

Recognized as a Change Agent in Lifestyle magazine and a Leader in the Non-Profit Times 2022 Power & Influence Top 50 List, Dan has received numerous awards for his work advancing mental health equity, including the 2022 Hope in Action Award from Hope Center Harlem, the Honor of Distinction Award from the Bowman Foundation Annual Global Impact Awards, the American Mental Health Counselors Association 2022 President’s Award, and more.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dan spearheaded the creation of the CEO Alliance for Mental Health, which brings leaders across the industry together under a unified vision to meet the unique and unprecedented challenges our most vulnerable communities are facing today. James Longman

James Longman is the Chief International Correspondent for ABC News, based in London. He is a highly accomplished journalist who has reported from over 60 countries, covering major global conflicts, royal events, and humanitarian crises. An Emmy winner for his impactful reporting on the war in Ukraine and the climate crisis, James is also known for being the first U.S. network reporter at the Thai cave rescue. Fluent in Arabic and French, he previously served as the BBC’s Beirut correspondent.

Don Mordecai, MD

Don Mordecai, MD, is the National Leader for Mental Health and Wellness at Kaiser Permanente. In this role, he leads national initiatives for Kaiser Permanente in the areas of care delivery, stigma reduction and the use of technology to improve outcomes in mental health and addiction care. A practicing child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Mordecai works across the organization to identify and deliver innovative ways to improve the mental health and wellness of individuals and the larger Kaiser Permanente community.   

Prior to his current role, Dr. Mordecai was Director of Mental Health and Addiction Medicine for The Permanente Medical Group. He trained in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine and is Adjunct Clinical Professor of Psychiatry there.
