Description

This immersive panel brings together three leading clozapine experts to share decades of clinical and research experience on the safe and effective use of clozapine. Participants will gain practical strategies to expand access, optimize treatment, and explore the broader benefits of clozapine beyond treatment-resistant schizophrenia, including suicide prevention, aggression, and substance use. Following the expert presentations, the session will feature a panel discussion with two individuals with lived experience. This interactive conversation will provide invaluable patient and family perspectives on clozapine treatment, highlighting real-world challenges, successes, and strategies for long-term engagement and recovery. Attendees will leave with both evidence-based knowledge and a deeper understanding of the lived experience of those benefiting from clozapine.

Learning Objectives

  2. Explain how providers can optimize clozapine treatment, including appropriate indications for use and application of the EASE approach to prevent and manage side effects, support long-term continuation, and promote recovery.
  3. Discuss the benefits of clozapine beyond treatment-resistant schizophrenia, including evidence related to suicide prevention and emerging research on aggression and substance use.
