Kimberly Comer provides training, support and outreach presentations to government agencies, nonprofit organizations, law enforcement and the judiciary on trauma informed mental healthcare, crisis de-escalation, suicide prevention, judicial advocacy and the essential role of peers in the recovery of individuals and families living with mental health challenges.
Ms. Comer is a Nationally Certified Peer Specialist, a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) with the State of Florida, a Community Health Worker/Certified Recovery Specialist (CHW/CRS) with the State of Indiana, a Copeland Institute certified Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitator, and she is certified to teach and facilitate all of the peer and family signature classes and support groups developed by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Her own story about the rise from homelessness and incarceration in a maximum-security prison to successful recovery and life of achievement has kept audiences spellbound and given hope to many who thought they could not overcome their own mental health challenges. While embracing and utilizing her more than 30 years of lived experience, Ms. Comer strives to empower others to achieve their success in recovery while developing the tools necessary to determine and live their healthiest quality of life.
