Mike Wood has more than 20 years of experience scaling impact and transforming operations for nonprofits addressing social challenges. As Chief Operating Officer of NAMI, he leads execution of strategic priorities and drives operational excellence.

Previously, Mike was COO of the Spina Bifida Association, where he built new talent, systems, and processes that delivered record year-over-year growth. As Vice President of Strategy at March of Dimes, he developed a strategy and operating model to address disparities in maternal and infant health. During seven years at United Way, he helped lead the merger creating United Way Worldwide, strengthened community engagement standards, and rolled out common performance measures for local affiliates.

A Harry S. Truman Scholar, Mike holds degrees from West Virginia University and The George Washington University. He lives in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and is deeply committed to NAMI's mission, having seen firsthand the impact of inadequate mental health care on his own family.
