Susan Caban is the Chief Programs Officer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and leads NAMI’s Programs and Services teams in their work advancing NAMI’s mission and strategic goals by delivering effective education and support programs and providing vital resources to families and individuals who are living with mental health conditions. Each year, NAMI's Peer and Family-led National Education Programs reach hundreds of thousands of people in communities across the U.S., while NAMI's HelpLine directly connects and supports over 100,000 people and provides online information to address the critical needs of nearly 1 million help seekers.
Ms. Caban is an experienced trainer, educator, and NAMI program leader with over 20+ years’ experience with NAMI, working first at the regional and state level before joining NAMI National in 2021. She is also a passionate advocate when it comes to empowering individuals to share their own mental health story, knowing first-hand the strength of those stories and the important role they play in one’s own recovery and in changing minds. Ms. Caban holds a BS in Elementary Education from Carlow University.
