Dr. Edward Suarez, Jr. is a Research Associate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Program Director of IDEA Exchange, Miami-Dade County’s syringe services program and low-barrier behavioral health clinic. He also serves as an Attending Psychologist with UHealth/Jackson Health System and holds a secondary faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine. A licensed psychologist and mental health counselor, Dr. Suarez specializes in community psychiatry, substance use disorders, harm reduction, HIV prevention, and integrated care. His clinical and research efforts focus on expanding access to evidence-based behavioral health services for individuals affected by serious mental illness, substance use disorders, homelessness, and other social challenges. As an educator and mentor, he is committed to preparing future healthcare professionals and advancing compassionate, person-centered approaches that promote recovery, resilience, and wellness.
