Carlos Zuniga is 41 years old, born in Albuquerque, NM. He was raised in the historical downtown neighborhood of Barelas. He has also lived in Santa Fe, NM and Phoenix, AZ. After overcoming many obstacles throughout his life, starting with his adolescence, teens, and young adulthood, Carlos struggled with gangs and addiction in his youth, mental disability, and adult incarceration. After his recovery and release from DOC, Carlos has become an advocate to help Stop the Stigma of brain disorders, addiction, and the revolving door, which is the result of mass incarceration, starting in his hometown the Beautiful Albuquerque, NM. Carlos started volunteering with many health and wellness table fair events throughout Bernalillo County and surrounding areas. Carlos has been the volunteer coordinator for NAMI. He is state certified to facilitate the connection support group, and has recently been voted onto the board of directors with NAMI Albuquerque. Carlos has decided to pursue his education in behavioral health and substance abuse. Carlos is a proud father of three children, one daughter and two sons.
