Sarah Flores, 38 years old is a native of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Sarah is currently working at the Valencia County Detention Center in Los, Lunas. She has worked 17 years in the Correctional Field specific to mental health and treatment for detainees. Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts in 2010 her degrees were in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology, Anthropology with a concentration in Forensics, Math and Spanish from New Mexico Highlands University. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Sociology with an emphasis in addiction from New Mexico Highlands University in 2012. Sarah ran a successful Reintegration Center out of the San Miguel County Detention Center until 2023 when she stepped away from Corrections to work in a Treatment Center to help develop and start Mental Health Court Services in San Miguel County. At the end of 2024 Sarah took a job at the Valencia County Detention Center where she is the Re-Entry Specialist and helps run the Medicated Assisted Treatment program at the facility. Sarah is a firm believer that faith, education, programming, support, and believing in people is what makes successful clients. Her personal motto is “to see the good in everyone as god only sees the good in you” She believes that together we can make a world where the stigma of mental health and addiction is not so negative and accepted so that people can feel safe to seek help and begin to heal.
